Nubiiv Studio

Nubiiv is an independent digital art studio focused on fantasy, dark and detailed illustrations, comics and concepts. It was created in march/2022, when I decided to invest my efforts in being a fulltime artist.

I am Nina, the main artist and responsible for it's existance. I run original projects and also take commissions.

So far, I published 4 independent comic issues and several fanzines. I also worked in book covers, game projects, tabletop RPG assets, branding kit and emotes for streamers, personal commissions and more.

I also have a youtube channel, where I draw live, so you can see I am an actual artist.
It's also a fun way to connect with people around the world!

I don't have issues showing my face, but since I'm an artist, I thought It'd be appropriate to represent myself in a drawing:

Certificated Prints

I'm always thinking of better ways of improving quality and offering the best for you guys, keeping in mind the true essence of art. After consulting a gallerist, I developed my own certification system and all prints released from now on will include a certificate.
What is an art authenticity certificate for?
Mostly, it proves the collector got that original piece or fine print from the source - it's not a stolen work or a fake print. In the document are listed title, name of the artist, date of conclusion, size info and a serial number (there aren't 2 prints under the same number); all signed by me.

Estou sempre pensando em jeitos de melhorar a qualidade e oferecer o melhor pra vocês, sem perder de vista a essência daquilo que é a arte. Após consultar um galerista, desenvolvi um sistema de certificado próprio, e todos os prints lançados a partir de agora acompanharão um certificado.
Para que serve o certificado de legitimidade de arte?
Principalmente, serve para comprovar que o colecionador adquiriu aquele original ou fine print do artista, e que a peça é legítima - e não apenas uma imagem que alguém pegou da internet e imprimiu. No documento, constam título da obra, nome do artista, data de conclusão da obra, dimensões e o número de série (não há dois prints com o mesmo número de série); todos assinados por mim.

I got really busy lately with commissions, conventions and even a game jam! Wow.
When I came back here, suddenly, we reached more than 2k views. I don't even know how this happened.

Chibi Asami

So, I recently had a stream to celebrate this lovely community, because we reached youtube partnership. During the livestream, people who super chat got to choose and pop balloons, and inside wthere could be a prize or a prank (on me, of course). Asterbella happened to win one of the prizes, a chibi, and she requested the character Asami, from Avatar, The Legend of Korra. I love Avatar and I had lots of fun drawing this cutie! Here are the drawing and timelapse:

Semana passada eu fiz uma stream comemorativa, porque alcançamos a parceria com o youtube. No decorrer da live, pessoas que dessem superchats podiam escolher balões para estourar, e dentro do balão tinha um prêmio ou uma pegadinha (pra mim, é claro). Asterbella ganhou um dos prêmios, um chibi, e ela pediu a personagem Asami, de Avatar, a Lenda de Korra. Eu amo muito Avatar e adorei poder desenhar essa fofura! Aqui estão o desenho e o timelapse:

Yay! We reached 1k views here! I'm so happy!
Ofc there's a voice in the back of my head saying it was just me updating and testing the code. But I know it's mathematically impossible. I hope new visitors are enjoying what you find here!
I want to make something to celebrate this first milestone in neocities! It caught me offguard in a very busy week, so I'll be updating a new drawing here. Not much, I know, but it's meaningful to me.

New Sticker and thoughts

I decided to start posting in a bilingual way, so this website can be friendly to both brazilians and foreigners. I'm an extrovert and I have a degree in communication, so being able to talk to people is an essential part of me. I'm thinking not about algorithm or numbers, but about being able to trade with as many people as I can. Writting posts in two languages will probably make the posts longer and may get visually excessive, but it serves to a purpose; and brings some of the "old internet" energy I'm aiming for here.

When, in december, I took some time to think about the previous year and plan my next steps for 2025, it became clear to me that I needed to get full control over my art brand, Nubiiv. Not that it was out of control, but I noticed how I was dependant on third parts. Depending on printing bureaus is relying on their materials and formats, that aren't always ideal for what I have in mind. Depending on social media as a way to show my work is depending on the algorithm changes and being forced to follow engagement formulas. As an artist, being stuck to those things is like being chained restraining how much I can put my creativity to movement.

But all experiences we live are part of our lives and feed our brains. So I decided to turn the frustration into expression, which turned out as this image:

This is my first ever sticker, printed in my own printer (yeah, I just got one, I'll be paying for it forever)! It has special meaning to me, because it doesn't only brings a message of resistence in face of what internet has become due to big techs, but also comes along with personal growth: I learned a lot about how to plan images to turn them into final products myself, including stuff I never thought I could do with my bare hands! Being able to execute a product you envisioned in your head and having it in your hands is amazing! Unique sensation.

Resolvi passar a escrever os posts de maneira bilíngue para que o site seja mais acessível, tanto a brasileiros quanto a estrangeiros. Sou extrovertida e bacharel em comunicação, então sou uma pessoa da qual a comunicação é parte essencial. Pensando não é números ou algoritmos, mas em conseguir conversar com tantas pessoas quantas conseguir, escrever em duas línguas vai deixar os textos mais longos e o visual um pouco mais poluído, mas vai cumprir o objetivo; e traz um pouco daquela energia de "old internet" e das estéticas do blog, antes de haver botões de tradução e layouts mais responsivos.

Quando parei, em dezembro, para refletir sobre o ano anterior e planejar os passos para 2025, ficou muito claro para mim que o principal é ter controle sobre a minha marca, Nubiiv. E isso não quer dizer que eu estivesse fora de controle, mas percebi que estava dependendo amplamente de terceiros em muitos aspectos. Depender de fornecedores e gráficas é depender dos materiais e formatos que eles tiverem disponíveis para mim, que nem sempre são ideais para o que eu tenho em mente. Depender de redes sociais para se divulgar é estar a mercê dos caprichos do algoritmo e ter que seguir fórmulas engessadas de engajamento. Como artista, ter que me prender a essas coisas é como ter correntes limitando o quanto eu posso movimentar a minha criatividade.

Mas todas as experiências que vivemos são parte da nossa vida e alimentam nosso repertório. Quando a vida te der limões, faça uma limonada! Então eu resolvi transformar essa insatisfação em expressão, que tomou forma nessa imagem:

Esse é o meu primeiro adesivo impresso na minha própria impressora (que comprei parcelada em muitas vezes a perder de vista)! Ele tem um significado especial para mim, porque traz não só uma mensagem de resistência diante do rolo compressor das big techs, como vem acompanhado de crescimento pessoal: eu aprendi a dimensionar a arte para impressão, laminar com vinil a frio e estou me sentindo muito independente! Esse adesivo é o primeiro produto 100% feito por mim, do começo ao fim! É muito gratificante ter em mãos um produto artesanal que você idealizou na sua mente e transformou em algo físico, do jeitinho que eu quis, com a qualidade que almejou. É uma sensação única!

WOW I MADE MY OWN THING

Well, hi! I'm Nina, nice to meet you! I'm an illustrator and comic artist. I'm also learning animation and I usually draw live on Youtube. I'm an extrovert, born under aries, enfp, cat lover, goth girl and brazilian. I'm 1,75m tall (or short, depending on your pov). Is there any other information you need on me?

As an artist, I must admit being online lately has been tiring and boring. I'm not young, so I've been online for long enough to remember the good times in deviantart, when I made lots of friends I actually kept irl, when people actually interacted and the algorithm still didn't filter what you were supposed to get or not. Oh, goddess, I hate the algorithm so much. Why do I even follow people on social media again?

Social medias are now flooded of AI stuff, bots, automated comments and fake content with political intentions. If it's not funny, enraging or a cat, the algorithm hides it from me. And, except for the cats, I'm not even interested on the other topics! I also dislike the fact that is now mandatory to make short videos everywhere if you want to be seen. I don't even want to watch these videos, I don't really know why people like them so much. Honestly? Social medias could end now. It would be better for the world, specially considering their rulers.

I missed blogs so much. When I first heard blogs would come back anytime soon I got excited and waited. And waited. Waited a little more. And here we are! Yay! I can finally work on a blog again! I'm so happy I already wanna make a second one, more personal maybe. I love all the early 2000's vibe and the aesthetics. No AI, no ads, no billionaires... This is my home now!

I'm making this my online space to showcase my art and talk about topics art-related. Lineart and digital watercolors are my thing. That cute little bat, Klaus, is my mascot and he's with me all the time. Also, I hope you guys forgive the watermarks all over the drawings. It's my gift for the AIs, in case they find me here and decide to feast.
